BASE OILS AND ESSENTIAL OILS
COCONUT OIL :
provides great cleansing and moisturizing for the skin It helps to make a harder bar of soap
PALM OIL: 1)Rich in Vitamins A and E 2)moisturizing 3)Helps acne prone skin 4)Helps provide a harder bar of soap and lots of lather
SWEET ALMOND OIl: Rich in Vitamins E, A & D, it helps soothe dry flaky skin like that with psoriasis and eczema
APRICOT OIL:
Very Conditioning, nourishing and moisturizes
JOJOBA OIL:
Also a great moisturizer and conditioning oil. It is used a lot in massage oils, lotions and lip balms. It is really a wax and therefore has a stable shelf life.
Avocado Oil: High percentage of Vitamins E, A and D. Helps your soap have lots of lather and creaminess.
Castor Oil: A great humectant, moisturizes the skin and helps inflamed skin, and is also a great cleanser.
Argan Oil: It helps to regenerate, hydrate and nourishes the skin. Very high in Vitamin E
Grapeseed Oil:
Known to help with acne prone skin as it has mildly astringent and antiseptic properties.
Also provides moisture to the skin.
Canola Oil:
Helps fight the signs of aging and smooth out wrinkles. It has moisturizing properties too.
Sunflower Oil:
Provides moisturizing benefits due to its fatty acid and vitamin E content.
Hemp Seed Oil: Great for all skin types as a moisturizer since it doesn't clog the pores. Great for help with oily skin which will also help acne prone skin.
Olive Oil: Helps with dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis and helps retard the aging process. Softens the skin and helps generate new cells.
The Oils listed above are the most common when making soap. There are other oils available. For people with allergies to coconut and palm, soaps can be made without these ingredients. The bar may not be as hard, but the skin loving properties will still be there.
